After your first hot yoga class, people often report they’ve slept better and feel taller. Hot Yoga could help people lose weight, overcome fears, conquer habits like smoking, and develop better concentration, all of which help their performance in their daily tasks. Others feel improved self-awareness, a deeper sense of well being, developed compassion, enhanced relationships, greater self-acceptance and a sensation of being at peace.
Choose between two styles of hot yoga, power vinyasa yoga and dynamic vinyasa yoga. Hot Yoga is a yoga practice performed in an intentionally heated environment. Being an Indian practice, Yoga was developed in a very warm climate. Stretching muscles and opening joints is much easier in the warmth. The higher the temperature in which you practice the more readily muscles and other body tissues will open, lengthen and recalibrate.
Yoga is designed to make you sweat and is known as a fire practice; one in which you purify your body by heat. The heat generated by the postures stimulates cellular detoxification. Creating heat internally, stimulates the movement of liquid to the skin. This can include melting fat deposits, which often harbor stored toxins. The presence of sweat on the skin functions as a thermal shield. The sweat acts like a wet suit providing insulation against the cooler external air. Then the heat generated in the practice stays inside, softening tissues, opening joints, and flushing out toxins.
Initially the practice of hot yoga may seem purely physical, but over time it can strengthen the mind as well as the body, healing emotional problems. You don’t have to be young and fit, you need only make a commitment to put in the time.
