While Pierre-Marcel Lemoigne was the first to develop an ascending-gliding parachute in 1961, it wasn't until 1971 that Mark McCulloh began inventing equipment for an activity that would be called 'Parasailing', which sounds a bit catchier than 'flying through the air on the end of a rope behind a boat'. Since then, Parasailing has taken off (like a parasailor) around the world and it still a popular sport loved by the people in the Gold Coast.
